SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Streets for people or roads for cars? How streets and community wellbeing interact.
DESCRIPTION:Join Simon Kingham\, Professor of Geography at the University of Canterbury and Chief Science Advisor to the Ministry of Transport\, for this lunchtime webinar about how streets and community wellbeing interact. \nStreets are usually seen as places for motor vehicles\, but what happens if we rethink their role as places that can strengthen our communities and enhance wellbeing? What happens when we change their form and function through things\, such as changing traffic volumes and speeds\, restricting traffic\, making walking and cycling more attractive\, and introducing street furniture and places for social interaction? This presentation will examine some of these types of changes that have been seen in Ōtautahi Christchurch. \nThis event is co-hosted with the Nelson Sustainable Transport Trust: NELSUST. Register for the Zoom invite by following this link: REGISTRATION \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival. See the full program here.

SUMMARY:Victory Community Working Bee and Afternoon Tea in the Mārakai
DESCRIPTION:Join the team in the Victory Community Garden for a working bee and afternoon tea to celebrate the Climate Action Festival. \nCome along to hear about our newly developed vision for the garden that supports people to garden together. \nSee our community compost system in use or help tend our garden beds. \nThen enjoy some homemade and locally produced refreshments with others in the relaxed surroundings of the mārakai. \nThe Victory Mārakai is a place for people to grow together.
