SUMMARY:Deep Time Walk - TASMAN
DESCRIPTION:Every rock beneath your feet\, every breath you take\, every living being you encounter is part of an extraordinary story that began 4.6 billion years ago. \nOn this guided 4.6-kilometre walk\, we journey through the unfolding history of our planet. Each metre represents one million years\, allowing us to experience Earth’s vast story at a human pace. Along the way\, we pause at key moments in Earth’s evolution – from the birth of our planet and the emergence of life\, through forests\, dinosaurs and mammals\, to the appearance of humans in the final moments of the walk. \nThe Deep Time Walk is an invitation to experience our place within the living Earth. Through storytelling\, reflection and time in nature\, many participants leave with a renewed sense of wonder\, belonging and gratitude for the remarkable lineage of life of which we are a part. \nWhether you are curious about Earth’s history\, concerned about the future of our planet\, or simply seeking a meaningful experience in nature\, this walk offers a perspective that is both grounding and inspiring. \nYour guide for this experience is Jaime Howell\, a trained facilitator of the Deep Time walk. Jaime is the founder of the Centre for The Great Turning Charitable Trust. \n“The walk is one of the most powerful transformative practices I know when it comes to realising in your body just how intelligent life is.” – Jaime \nMore information and registration HERE. \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026. SUMMARY:Trees\, Tunes\, and Recharge - NELSON
DESCRIPTION:Overwhelmed by climate change and the environmental challenges our community faces? We all need to recharge from time to time\, and while we might be biased\, we think few things are more restorative than seeing nature regenerate right in front of your eyes. \nThe Kidson family are helping restore a section of the Wakapuaka awa (river)\, which has seen 70\,000+ trees planted on their land and the neighbouring Cable Bay Adventure Park (more info here). They’d love to show you what can be achieved in just five years. Come and learn about native regeneration at scale through their project\, Wakapuaka Mouri\, and stay to enjoy food and music. Bring a dish to share. \n11.30: Trees Tunes and Recharge kicks off \n11.45 – 1pm: Learn about Wakapuaka Mouri\, the successes and challenges\, go for a walk around some of the sites and plant a tree. \n1pm – 3pm: Head to the bach for some kai\, kōrero and music. \nPlease note: Bring sturdy shoes\, or shoes you don’t mind getting muddy! \nMore info on the project: https://www.tet.org.nz/projects/wakapuaka-mouri \nRegister HERE. \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026. See the full program here.
