SUMMARY:Tasman Open Orchard Planting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a planting day at the Tasman Memorial Recreation Reserve to expand an open public orchard\, established by the Tasman Area Community Assn\, (T.A.C.A). \nThe aim is to further the community’s food security and to help with the cost of living by adding more free food into the community. If you are wanting to plant a tree please bring your own spade. We’ll stop for smoko around 10.30am. BYO morning tea. \nTACA has secured sponsorship for more than 40 trees\, with many thanks to Waimea Nurseries and Thurkettle Nursery. \nCurrently there are feijoas\, plums\, apples\, various citrus and macadamia nuts all producing. \nThere are three ways in which you can contribute: \n1. Your participation in working Bees to help plant trees on the 19th September and ongoing maintenance of the Open Orchard. \n2. A monetary donation – we suggest between $10 and $30 dollars-towards the nurturing of the trees- eg mulch\, fertiliser. \nDonations can be paid into T.A.C.A.s bank account Tasman Area Community Association. 03-1354-0627622-00.   Please put your name under particulars and  Orchard under reference \nOrganised by Steve Richards and Vivien Peters. \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026. SUMMARY:Tāhunanui Community Beach Clean-Up - NELSON
DESCRIPTION:Join us as part of the Climate Action Festival and help protect our coastline from litter and plastic pollution. Last year\, more than 200 volunteers collected 500 kg of rubbish from Tāhunanui Beach and surrounds. This year\, the goal is 1\,000 kg! \nRemoving rubbish from our beaches helps prevent plastics from entering the ocean\, where they can harm wildlife and break down into microplastics. Bring your friends\, whānau\, colleagues\, or classmates and be part of a fun community event. \nOrganised by Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park as part of Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s Clean Up Week\, this community event brings people together to care for our beach\, waterways\, and wildlife. \nAfter the clean-up\, enjoy a free thank-you BBQ and spot prizes. \nMore information HERE \nImage credit: Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026.
