SUMMARY:Webinar: Carpooling Made Easy with Pooly - ONLINE
DESCRIPTION:Join this lunchtime webinar with Pooly\, Nelson-Tasman’s homegrown carpooling start-up\, to hear how shared journeys could become a bigger part of our region’s transport future. The Pooly app is designed to be a friction-free experience so we can all make better use of the journeys already happening on our roads. \nCo-Founders Vincent Revell and Ben Walch will share their perspectives on carpooling as one of the simplest\, most effective ways to reduce transport emissions while making travel more affordable. \nDrawing from overseas learnings\, they’ll lay out why Nelson-Tasman is well placed to lead Aotearoa in carpooling adoption. \nPooly is a response to the fuel and cost of living crises\, and to limitations of our transport system. It’s also an instrument for community connection. The platform makes it easy to find\, book and manage shared journeys\, giving drivers and passengers an intuitive and well-organised interface. \nVincent and Ben will share the story behind Pooly and the lessons from its recent local trial. They’ll also explain why they believe making better use of the empty seats already travelling our roads can play an important role in the future of regional transport. \nThe session will include a live demonstration of the Pooly app\, giving attendees a practical look at how it works and how carpooling could fit into their everyday journeys. \nThere will be plenty of time for questions and discussion at the end. \nRegister HERE \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026. SUMMARY:Webinar: Flood Risk & Insurance: Are You Ready? - ONLINE
DESCRIPTION:How can rural landowners get the best out of their insurance and reduce their risks in the face of more frequent and intense severe weather? \nFollowing our Flood Risk Workshop run in the Motueka catchment this May\, the Motueka Catchment Collective is hosting this follow-up session to help landholders keep thinking about risk\, planning ahead\, and making good decisions for their properties and insurance cover — before the next event\, not after it. \nAlastair Clement\, team leader of the Tasman District Council (TDC) Hazards team\, opens with the bigger picture: climate change\, flood risk projections\, and other regional hazards\, plus the tools TDC has available to help you understand the hazards on your property. \nFrom there\, Abby France\, Loss Prevention Manager from FMG Insurance\, covers insurance and disaster cover for rural properties\, how insurers assess flood-prone land\, and practical ways landowners can manage risk and influence their cover. \nWe will then hear from a local landowner who will share their own experience of dealing with the floods and their insurance since — what happened\, and what they’ve changed on their property as a result. \nThere will be time for questions after each speaker. \nRegister HERE  \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026.
