SUMMARY:Take the Jump – Kia Māia te Peke - Webinar (Part 2)
DESCRIPTION:Take the Jump – Kia Māia te Peke \nWebinar (Part 2) – 20th December at 7.30pm \nOn 6th December\, a webinar on Take the Jump was hosted by Our Climate Declaration\, featuring Tom Bailey\, who leads the Take the Jump global team\, and Chris Wheatley who is coordinating the Aotearoa-New Zealand adaptation of this movement through the Nelson Tasman Climate Forum (NTCF). \nThis webinar was recorded – the link to the video can be found here: \nhttps://www.ourclimatedeclaration.org.nz/take_the_jump_webinar_recording \nTom was not able to complete his talk\, as the time needed to cover the key topics proved to exceed the time available.  Tom has now graciously agreed to present the second half of this talk to the NTCF on 20th December at 7.30pm NZ time. In the second talk\, Tom will dive straight into the details of how social and behavioural science informs the design and implementation of the Take the Jump campaign/movement\, plus recent work on measurement of its success or impact. \nThe registration link for this second webinar\, which will also be recorded\, is here: \nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMoc-utrzojHdSXuUgWacxmGOCJNk2tKiDr \nPassword: NTCF \nWe expect this talk will take 30-40 minutes\, and that allows for a 20-30 minute Q&A session to follow. \nWe look forward to seeing you on zoom at this online event if your pre-holiday schedule allows.

SUMMARY:Active Hope: Deep Ecology & Yoga Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Anahata Yoga Retreat is delighted to welcome Inna Alex who will be hosting the Active Hope – Deep Ecology & Yoga Retreat gathering at our Golden Bay Retreat. Kindly note that the teachings included in this gathering may not reflect Anahata’s tradition and philosophy. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us for an extraordinary\, heart-felt journey into enhanced connection and empowerment through Deep Ecology & Yoga \nWhy join this Deep Ecology retreat? \nWe are alive at an extraordinary moment in time. It is a time of growing uncertainty\, yet also time of great possibility when creativity\, courage and collective action can help cultivate change. This is a time when many of us are seeking ways to reconnect to one another and to the living Earth. \nDeep ecology is a holistic approach to facing the current challenges on Earth that brings together thinking\, feeling\, spirituality and action. It involves moving beyond the individualism of Western culture also seeing ourselves as part of the Earth. This leads to a deeper connection with life\, where Ecology is not just seen as something ‘out there’\, but something we are a part of and have a role to play in. \nIn this retreat\, we will draw on the work of Joanna Macy\, John Seed and Arne Naess. We will use theories and interactive practices from The Work That Reconnects to reconnect to out own true nature\, the web of life\, and to our human community. \nThis work supports us to experience first hand that we are larger\, stronger\, deeper\, and more creative than we have been brought up to believe. Opening our hearts and our minds to the love\, the grief we feel for our world\, empowers us to act on behalf of the Earth. \nMore info on this retreat here: Active Hope: Deep Ecology & Yoga Retreat – Anahata Yoga Retreat (anahata-retreat.org.nz)

SUMMARY:Repair with Flair Student Fashion Show
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate retro and restyled fashion creations made by local students!  Every year heaps of clothing goes to landfill and by recycling and refashioning old items we can reduce our impact on the environment while having fun. \nStarting from noon there will be short talks and interactive workshops by local community groups who focus on reducing\, reusing and repurposing clothing waste. Then at 1pm the ‘Repair with Flair’ fashion show begins. Prizes will be given for the most creative\, best background story\, and best handywork. Students who are keen to enter can register here. \nEntry to the event is free\, and light refreshments will be available for a small charge. The event is being organised by the Waimea and Nelson Soroptimists clubs and is a follow-on from the 2023 ‘Clothing Revolution’ event. \nBy preventing clothing to landfill we are helping to reduce carbon emissions. Fashion (mostly women’s clothing) is responsible for at least 2-8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. \nLearn how acting on “Clothing” can regenerate our planet here:  Clothing I Project Regeneration \n\nThis event is part of Climate Action Festival.
