Kia ora,

What a festival. We explored ways to stop coal extraction on the beautiful Denniston Plateau, we gathered with friends, planted young forests, made music, shared knowledge about building better homes, gardens and living with solar, repaired our stuff, shared rides and swapped numbers. We ended with a raffle and a reminder from Benedict Cumberbatch that “Our perception of what’s normal on Earth is shifting.”

We’re so thankful for the many people in our community who are helping to create a new normal in their day-to-day lives. More than 1000 tickets were booked for the 10 days, evidence of the appetite for connecting with community and papatūānuku in our region.

Below is a photo blast from the festival. Enjoy all the great shots by our photographers, John-Paul Pochin, Charley Cross and Jeanie Robertson.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped create the warm and supportive atmosphere that makes this festival so special.

Ngā manaakitanga,

The Climate Forum team, Joanna, Marlene, Lucy and Louise

We were grateful to count on the generous support of Nelson City Council to bring you the Climate Action Festival this year.
