The NTCF Repair Cafe was founded on reducing waste by offering an alternative to our ‘throwaway culture’, sharing repair knowledge and skill, and helping build community connections. This addresses the rethink, reduce, and reuse steps of the waste hierarchy.
Our Repair Café targets a diverse audience across Nelson and aims to ensure equitable and affordable access to repair services and skills.
By attending or supporting our local Repair Café you can extend the time of use before personal belongings are thrown out and reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill.
Repair Café events take place either at ReStore Nelson or at Victory Community Center. Each event covers regular, heavily used household items such as toys, clothing, furniture, bikes, and small electrical appliances (e.g. toasters & lamps, radios, computers, and phones).
