Battle for the Banded Rail is a project working with local communities to increase the number of banded rail and other estuarine birds on the margins of the Waimea Inlet by restoring habitat and trapping predators.

Together, let’s give some TLC to the plants planted in winter.

We will meet at Moreland Place Reserve in Mapua. Check the flag on Moreland Place where the access goes through to the reserve.

Please bring gloves and drinking water.  Wear solid footwear and clothes suitable for the weather conditions.  Morning tea will be provided, and all volunteers are welcome.

There is no need to register, but if the weather is not good, we will cancel by 8 am on the day.  However, if it’s just doubtful or light rain, we’ll go ahead. Please check the organiser’s Facebook page here.
