Tasman Open Orchard Planting

September 19 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us for a planting day at the Tasman Memorial Recreation Reserve to expand an open public orchard, established by the Tasman Area Community Assn, (T.A.C.A).

The aim is to further the community’s food security and to help with the cost of living by adding more free food into the community. If you are wanting to plant a tree please bring your own spade. We’ll stop for smoko around 10.30am. BYO morning tea.

TACA has secured sponsorship for more than 40 trees, with many thanks to Waimea Nurseries and Thurkettle Nursery.

Currently there are feijoas, plums, apples, various citrus and macadamia nuts all producing.

There are three ways in which you can contribute:

1. Your participation in working Bees to help plant trees on the 19th September and ongoing maintenance of the Open Orchard.

2. A monetary donation – we suggest between $10 and $30 dollars-towards the nurturing of the trees- eg mulch, fertiliser.

Donations can be paid into T.A.C.A.s bank account Tasman Area Community Association. 03-1354-0627622-00.   Please put your name under particulars and  Orchard under reference

Organised by Steve Richards and Vivien Peters.

This event is part of Climate Action Festival 2026. See the full program here.
