Webinar: Flood Risk & Insurance: Are You Ready? – ONLINE

How can rural landowners get the best out of their insurance and reduce their risks in the face of more frequent and intense severe weather?
Following our Flood Risk Workshop run in the Motueka catchment this May, the Motueka Catchment Collective is hosting this follow-up session to help landholders keep thinking about risk, planning ahead, and making good decisions for their properties and insurance cover — before the next event, not after it.
Alastair Clement, team leader of the Tasman District Council (TDC) Hazards team, opens with the bigger picture: climate change, flood risk projections, and other regional hazards, plus the tools TDC has available to help you understand the hazards on your property.
From there, Abby France, Loss Prevention Manager from FMG Insurance, covers insurance and disaster cover for rural properties, how insurers assess flood-prone land, and practical ways landowners can manage risk and influence their cover.
We will then hear from a local landowner who will share their own experience of dealing with the floods and their insurance since — what happened, and what they’ve changed on their property as a result.
There will be time for questions after each speaker.
