Science, Technology and Research Group
The Science, Technology & Research group works to provide clear and relevant scientific information across the Forum. In the first few years of the Forum from 2020 to 2022 we gave many presentations at member events on key areas of climate science and helped create the first version of the Climate Action Book. Our work since June 2022 has focused on :
- Working with Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council on their regional greenhouse gas inventories and environmental plans
- Working to establish ways of monitoring regional greenhouse gas emissions
- Helping to establish clear and effective regional targets for greenhouse gas emissions at different stages between now and 2050
- Helping to encourage and support the implementation of change
To do this, we work individually and hold simple and minimal Zoom meetings at 7 pm on the first Tuesday of every month except January. These Zoom meetings provide an easy gathering point for any group members who wish to talk through new developments, opportunities for change, and areas of our work that need to be resolved.
Anyone keen to learn more or join in is welcome to get in touch.

The Climate Action Book
The Nelson Tasman Climate Forum offers this plan for every citizen of our region — for individuals, households, businesses, farmers, schools and colleges, religious organisations, councils and iwi. We also hope to help other parts of Aotearoa to develop their own Climate Action Plans and contribute to the development of Climate Action Plans around the world.
